About Us

The Victorian era has often been called the “age of doubt.” But it was also an age of religious revivals and prominent dissenting movements, of numerous public controversies about the nature of religious belief, and of the rise of comparative religion.

Our caucus aims to show how the study of religion and spiritualty can contribute to our understanding of Victorian literature, history, and culture. We define the terms “religion” and “spirituality” broadly, and we welcome a wide range of disciplinary perspectives, methodological approaches, and areas of interest.

At NAVSA’s annual conferences, we organize panels, seminars, and roundtables. In between conferences, we host virtual events and facilitate a mailing list. To get involved, please contact us.
